Emirates wins on almost every axis that matters for a long-haul economy flight: the entertainment library is genuinely best-in-class, service is faultless, food punches above the cabin class, and the price is on par with BA. The one weak link is the seat itself — firm and unforgiving over seven hours. Book the daytime flight and it barely dents the trip. Score: 7.6/10. Recommended.

The Detail

The trade-off here is straightforward: Emirates wins on entertainment, service, and the sheer scale of the A380 experience, and the seat is the only real letdown. Book the daytime flight if given the choice — an overnight departure sounds appealing for sleep, but between cabin noise and the seat itself, sleep doesn't come easily, and a daytime flight spent watching films is the more bearable option even with the cost of an extra hotel night on arrival. On price parity with BA, the wider cabin, superior entertainment, and stronger arrivals experience tip the balance to Emirates for this route.
